We're in Buenos Aires for New Year's! Sort of

Another New Year’s, another nod to our friend who came up with this brilliant idea last year: as we did then, this year we’ll be celebrating in another time zone. For parents with little ones, midnight is out of the question, as is watching the ball drop on TV live from New York, or at least it is for us here on the West Coast. So we’ll be partying in Buenos Aires: the clock strikes midnight there at 7 p.m. our time. We'll do the countdown and pop Champagne and everything: here's to that!

It's a Wonderful Life

I don’t think anyone’s going to get much sleep around here in the next few days, given the escalating excitement over Christmas. I have to say that Boney M’s "Christmas Medley" is still one of the best holiday tunes around, and it’s even better for me now that my two-year-old loves dancing to it. Then there are the ever-crazy things to come from my four-year-old, such as this after last night’s bath: "let’s shake our fuzzy bums!" It really is a wonderful life, and I don’t need a darn thing given the gifts that surround me on a daily basis.
