1. How did babycheeks begin?
My mom and I knew that we would become a team of entrepreneurs. The idea happened one day and grew from there. Two and half years later our dream is right here in our own community.
2. What is the biggest challenge in being a mom entrepreneur?
There is no question that the biggest challenge I face is keeping organized. A fine-tuned schedule helps keep me calm and my well-being reflects back to my children.
3. What are some of your greatest successes?
In my personal life, I experience success with my children and my marriage on a daily basis— they all bring me great happiness. Professionally, I feel a great sense of success with my boutique. It has been and continues to be a steady climb that will always keep me challenged. Within my business, I have been successful with my personal line of children’s hair accessories, blankets, bibs, and my "Baby on Board" labels for the “mom-mobiles.”
4. How do you maintain a healthy work/life balance?
There is a place for work and another for pleasure—I keep them separate. For pleasure, I spend a lot of my spare time with my family and friends. I am close with my sister and her family, and with my parents and grandparents. They help me remain grounded. The same holds true of my friends—we are all a team and have a great time together.
5. What tips can you offer to other busy mom entrepreneurs?
Always schedule your time efficiently; don’t get lost in overextending yourself. Even if your mood does somersaults, don’t allow your family to experience it. When you open your doors, realize that there is an entire day of pursuit ahead. And most certainly in business, don’t expect customers to flow. You always have to get your name out there.
6. Why do you think women are good entrepreneurs?
We are not only excellent multitaskers but have high organizational skills. We relate well to our customers and understand their position. Let’s just say, we have what it takes to get the job done.
